Bocachica is where it all began.
30 minutes by boat from the affluent city of Cartagena and its flourishing tourism industry, we discovered a community rich in culture and zest for life, but poor in almost every other way. Inhabitants of the island suffer from significantly worse infrastructure and employment prospects than the mainland.
Blue Apple Beach House already supports the
village as far as it can, but through Green Apple the possibilities are far greater. Bocachica will therefore be the first community to benefit from Green Apple's activity, which will improve conditions and provide much needed additional income streams. Here's how >>
However we hope that our model - focussing on small communities - can be copied elswhere in Colombia (and beyond) long-term.
Blue Apple will continue to donate land and transport to Green Apple initiatives.
