team leader (all-rounder)

We are recruiting for a bilingual (Spanish-English) team leader.

The successful candidate will have sustainability or not-for-profit experience and will have lived and/ or worked in the developing world.

If you were to describe yourself in seven (and a half) words they would be: hands-on, organised, detail-oriented, energetic, experienced, brave, leader.

Green Apple is in its first year, but is flying. We have secured over $50,000 in funding and launched a glass recycling scheme, composting and kitchen garden program and engaged 5 other businesses, with a waiting list of partners wanting to join us. We have 5 full time staff and want to double our operation within the next 6-12 months.

To oversee and lead day-to-day operations, you will need to be good with people from all backgrounds and an effective project manager, enabling you to keep all the plates spinning while developing new projects, training and managing staff and assisting with fund-raising.

You will understand that measuring and reporting are vital in sustainability, so although you're very hands on, you're also a closet excel whizz who loves to geek-out on statistics.  If you're an engineer and understand the nitty gritty of how to make concrete, recycle plastic or build from reused materials, even better.

You are not alone. You will be supported by Co-Founder Portia (whose day job is running the hotel) and head of Gardening & Organics Jenny, coincidentally both English.

You must be comfortable speaking in Spanish and should have at least intermediate English. Ideally you can commit for 12 months.

This is a volunteer role but we are offering a monthly stipend of around $700 (US) and we can provide accommodation and food on the island at no cost.
